I’ve been using this Natural Wooden High Chair for my little one for about six months now, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for our family meals.
When I first started looking for a high chair, I was pretty worried about getting something that wouldn’t just end up in a garage sale next year. This chair is seriously built to grow with your kid – it works from like 3 years all the way up to 12! My son is 4, and I love that I can adjust basically everything – there are 6 different seat heights, 9 positions for the foot pedals, and you can even move the seat back. It’s way more versatile than that plastic monstrosity my sister bought last year.
The safety features are actually pretty impressive. All the edges are rounded (which I appreciate after banging my hip on it approximately 500 times), and it has these little felt pads on the bottom that keep it from sliding around on our hardwood floors. It’s got those safety certifications too – CPC and ASTM or whatever – which makes me feel better about my energetic toddler climbing all over it.
This thing is sturdy! It’s made from solid beech wood – not that cheap particle board stuff that falls apart after a few months. The way it’s designed with that trapezoid shape means my son can wiggle around (and boy, does he wiggle) without it tipping over. It’s only about 13 pounds too, so I can move it around the kitchen without throwing my back out.
One of the best features has to be the ladder-style steps. My son is in this “I DO IT MYSELF” phase, and he loves climbing up into his “big boy chair” without help. The steps double as footrests, which is actually pretty important – our previous chair left his feet dangling, and he’d get uncomfortable after like 10 minutes.
The ergonomics are surprisingly good for a kids’ product. The wider pedals help with his posture (which, to be fair, is still pretty terrible half the time), and the seat is actually contoured to be comfortable. We’ve had some marathon coloring sessions in this chair, and he doesn’t get squirmy nearly as fast as he used to.
The cushions are a lifesaver – they’re this dense foam that doesn’t immediately flatten out like the cushions on our old high chair. And thank goodness they’re removable and washable! Yesterday we had a tragic spaghetti incident that would have permanently stained anything else, but I just tossed the cover in the washing machine and it came out good as new.
Their customer service seems pretty solid too. I had a question about assembly (which was mostly straightforward, but I’m terrible at following instructions), and they got back to me the same day.
For the specs folks: it’s about 18.5″ wide, 19.7″ deep, and can adjust up to 31.5″ high. It holds up to 130 pounds, which means it’ll last basically forever. The wood has this nice natural finish that actually matches our dining set pretty well.
We use it for everything – meals, art projects, and sometimes my son just hangs out in it while I’m cooking dinner. It’s been worth every penny considering how long we’ll be able to use it.
