So I finally pulled the trigger on this PADMA HOUSE dining set after weeks of looking around, and honestly, I’m pretty impressed with what I got! The 48″ round glass table is actually better looking in person than in the photos – the tempered glass is about half an inch thick and feels really sturdy, not like those flimsy glass tables that make you nervous every time someone puts down a plate too hard.
The table’s definitely solid – the base is made from real aspen wood with some rubber wood reinforcement, and it can handle up to 250 pounds which is plenty for dinner with friends. It’s just the right size too – 48 inches across and 30 inches high. We have a somewhat small dining area, and this fits four people comfortably without making the room feel cramped.
What I’m kind of obsessed with are the chairs, if I’m being honest. They’re these wingback style chairs in a charcoal gray velvet that feels way more expensive than what I paid. They’re super comfortable too – the high backrest (about 22 inches) has this dense foam padding that makes sitting through our weekend game nights way more bearable than our old dining set. Each chair is pretty substantial at 22″W x 24″D x 38″H with a seat height of 19 inches, which is perfect for my husband who’s on the taller side.
One thing I didn’t expect was how nice the nailhead trim looks on the chairs – it adds this classic touch that elevates the whole set. The chairs are actually pretty hefty – about 15 pounds each – but that means they’re stable and can support up to 300 pounds per chair, which is reassuring.
The practicality of this set is what really sold me in the end. The chairs tuck completely under the table when not in use, which is a lifesaver in our apartment. And cleaning the glass top is so much easier than our old wooden table – just a quick wipe with a damp cloth and it looks good as new. The velvet on the chairs has some kind of stain-resistant treatment too, which came in handy when my nephew visited and spilled his juice.
To be fair, assembly was required, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The instructions were pretty clear, and all the hardware was included. It took my husband and me about an hour to put everything together.
We’ve been using this set for everything from regular family dinners to hosting friends for cocktail nights, and it fits right in. The glass top and modern design make our dining area look bigger and brighter, but the velvet chairs add enough warmth that it doesn’t feel cold or sterile.
If you’re on the fence, I’d say go for it – it’s definitely nicer than the IKEA set my sister bought for about the same price, and the quality seems like it’ll last for years. Just a heads up though, the glass shows fingerprints pretty easily, so keep a microfiber cloth handy if that kind of thing bothers you like it does me!
