I finally decided to upgrade my breakfast nook with this Qsun 3-piece bar set, and honestly, it’s been kind of a game-changer for our small kitchen. I was a bit worried about quality since the price was pretty reasonable, but I’ve gotta say, this thing is rock solid.
The matte black frame is actually really sturdy – not like those wobbly bar sets you sometimes get. It’s holding up to 400lbs apparently, which seems about right because my partner and I use it daily and it hasn’t budged at all. There’s these cross support bars underneath everything that make a huge difference compared to my last dining set that would shake whenever someone leaned on it.
The wood top and seats are made from this Elm solid wood that looks way nicer than I expected. To be fair, I was thinking it might have that cheap laminate feel, but it’s definitely real wood with a nice grain pattern. They used some water-based finish that’s held up surprisingly well to my coffee spills and dinner messes. Just wipe it down and you’re good to go!
One thing that surprised me – the little adjustable foot pads actually work really well! Our kitchen floor is kind of uneven near the corner where we put this, and I was able to tweak them until everything sat perfectly level. No more annoying wobble when I’m trying to enjoy my morning coffee!
Style-wise, it’s got this cool farmhouse-meets-modern vibe that fits our apartment perfectly. We were going for a kind of industrial look in our kitchen remodel, and this matches so much better than our old IKEA set. The contrast between the black metal and the natural wood tone just works. It’s definitely got a bit of a retro feel too, which I’m into right now.
The chairs are actually pretty comfortable for bar chairs – they have these high backs with a slight curve that supports your lower back better than those backless stools at my friend’s place. The footrests are positioned just right for me (I’m 5’7″), though my taller partner wishes they were maybe an inch higher. Still, we can sit and chat for a couple hours without getting that achy back feeling.
Assembly wasn’t bad at all. Everything came in two boxes, clearly labeled, and took me maybe 25 minutes tops to put together. The instructions were surprisingly clear (unlike some furniture I’ve bought before!), and they included all the tools needed. Nothing fancy, but it got the job done without having to dig through my toolbox.
Size-wise, it’s perfect for our little breakfast nook – 24″ square table at 41.3″ high with chairs about 44″ tall with seat height around 29.5″. We’ve used it for everything from quick breakfast, working from home, to weekend cocktails. It’s even become our go-to spot for board games nights with another couple (though we do need to pull up extra chairs).
What I really love is how it makes our small space feel like a proper little bistro. Last weekend, we had this amazing brunch with mimosas, and sitting at our high table made it feel like we were at some cute café instead of just in our apartment. Each chair handles up to 250lbs apparently, which seems totally fine – my brother-in-law is a pretty big guy and had no issues when he visited.
For the specs people: it’s Elm wood for the tops with powder-coated steel frames. The whole set is super easy to wipe clean, which is a must in my book. The chairs and table have these soft pads on the feet so they don’t scratch up our floors or make that awful scraping noise when you move them.
If you’re looking for something compact but stylish for a small kitchen, breakfast nook, or even a tiny balcony, this is pretty much perfect. Not the cheapest set out there, but definitely worth it for something that feels this solid and looks this good.
