So when my trusty gaming chair started wobbling like crazy last month, I knew it was time for a replacement base. After scrolling through tons of options, I decided to try this 25″ heavy-duty chair base, and honestly? It’s been a total game-changer.
I was pretty skeptical at first (aren’t we all with Amazon purchases?), but this thing is seriously built to last. It’s made from this super sturdy nylon plastic that feels way more solid than my old base. I’m nowhere near the 350-pound weight limit, but it’s nice knowing it can handle basically anything—my cat included when she decides to join me during work calls!
The whole setup is 25 inches across, which fits perfectly with my gaming chair. What I really love is how smoothly it swivels—like, a full 360 degrees without any of that annoying squeaking my old base had. Such a relief during those marathon gaming sessions when I’m constantly turning to grab snacks!
Setting up the bottom plate was actually not bad at all. The mounting holes (they’re spaced 10″ x 6″ apart) lined up perfectly with my chair. There’s this handy little twist wheel that lets you adjust how much resistance you get when leaning back. I like mine pretty loose so I can rock back a bit during those long Zoom meetings without feeling like I’m fighting the chair.
The height adjustment is kind of a big deal for me since my desk is slightly taller than standard. This cylinder gives you about 4.7 inches of travel, which means I can finally get that perfect ergonomic position where my arms aren’t awkwardly hovering over the keyboard. To be fair, the adjustment lever on mine was a tiny bit stiff at first, but it loosened up after a few days of use.
The casters that come with it are pretty good—they’re these 60mm wheels that roll super smoothly on my hardwood floors. I didn’t expect that! No more of that annoying catching on the floor seams that my old chair always did. And they’re quiet too, which my downstairs neighbor probably appreciates.
Installation was way easier than I thought it would be. Took me maybe 15 minutes tops, and I’m definitely not what you’d call “handy.” Everything you need comes in the box—the base, seat plate, gas cylinder, and all five casters. Just follow the four steps in the pictures and you’re good to go.

I’ve been using this base for about three weeks now, and it’s holding up great. No more wobbling, no more feeling like I’m about to tip over when I reach for something. If your chair base is starting to give out or you just want something more stable, this is definitely worth considering. It’s comfier than my old setup and makes my cheap-ish office chair feel way more premium. For what it costs, it’s probably the best upgrade I’ve made to my home office this year!
