So I finally broke down and got these PureFit couch covers after my dog basically claimed our L-shaped sectional as his personal scratching post (thanks, buddy). They’re made with this 80% polyester, 20% spandex blend that’s honestly way stretchier than I expected. Our sofa is pretty big—about 85 inches on the main part—and these fit surprisingly well. The dark gray color we picked is actually prettier in person than in the photos, kind of a rich charcoal that doesn’t show every bit of dog hair.
The thing I was most worried about was whether they’d actually stay put. My last covers would slide all over the place, which was super annoying. These have this elastic bottom and these little foam anchor things you tuck into the cushion cracks, and they actually work! Even with my kids bouncing around and the dog jumping up every time someone walks by the window, the covers haven’t budged much at all.
Installing them wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It took me maybe 15 minutes? You basically just throw the pieces over each section (it works with the chaise on either side, by the way), tuck in the excess fabric, and stick those foam anchors in. The instructions were pretty straightforward, though I did have to adjust things a couple times to get the seams lined up right.
The fabric feels pretty good quality—not super thick but definitely not flimsy either. It’s kind of soft to the touch, which I didn’t really expect from something so stretchy. My old couch was this hideous brown leather hand-me-down with some questionable stains, and now it actually looks presentable enough that I’m not embarrassed when friends come over!
Washing them is pretty easy too. I’ve already had to clean them once after my son spilled his juice box (of course he did), and they came out looking brand new. Just tossed them in the washer on cold, and they were good to go. The package says not to iron them, which is fine by me since ironing is literally my least favorite chore ever.
For what it’s worth, the company seems pretty decent about standing behind their stuff. There’s a 6-month guarantee, though I haven’t had to use it. Feels good knowing it’s there though.
I was honestly on the fence about spending money on covers versus saving up for a whole new couch, but for less than $100, these have totally transformed our living room. It’s comfier than before since the fabric is softer than our original upholstery, and it’s nice not constantly stressing about every little spill or scratch.
The dark gray goes with pretty much everything, which is perfect since I tend to switch up our throw pillows and blankets with the seasons. If you’ve got kids or pets and don’t want to stress about your sofa, these are definitely worth checking out.
