Safety 1st 3-in-1 High Chair with Adjustable Tray, Birchbark

I recently took the plunge and got this Safety 1st Grow and Go 3-in-1 High Chair in that pretty Birchbark color, and honestly, it’s been such a game-changer for our mealtimes with little Ellie. The whole versatility thing is no joke – we started using it when she was around 7 months in that reclined infant mode (it says it works for babies from 6 months up to 40 pounds), and now that she’s becoming more independent, we’re loving the regular high chair mode.
What I really appreciate is how this thing actually grows with your kid. Like, you’re not just buying something they’ll outgrow in six months, you know? It’s got these three recline positions that are super helpful when they’re still kind of wobbly, and the height adjusts in six different ways, which is pretty awesome for matching up with our kitchen island or dining table. We’re at about 28 inches but it can go from 24 to 32 inches, so there’s plenty of room to adjust.
The footrest thing is a nice touch too – wasn’t something I even thought about when shopping, but it makes Ellie way more comfortable during longer meals. I was a bit worried about sturdiness when I first got it, but the steel frame is actually really solid. It’s about 24 inches wide and 43.5 inches tall when fully extended, and weighs around 18.7 pounds – not too heavy to move around but definitely stable enough that I don’t worry about it tipping.
Let’s talk about the cleaning situation, because with a toddler, that’s honestly half the battle, right? The tray insert pops out super easily and goes straight in the dishwasher, which is such a lifesaver after spaghetti night! It’s about 18 x 12 inches and has this little lip around the edge that catches most spills before they hit the floor. The seat pad is probably my favorite feature though – you can just wipe it down for everyday messes, but when things get really bad (hello, blueberry yogurt disaster of last week), you can throw the whole thing in the washing machine. To be fair, some staining does happen with really colorful foods, but way less than our previous high chair.
One thing that’s been really convenient is how it folds up. Our kitchen isn’t huge, so being able to collapse it down to about 24 x 11 x 40 inches and just stand it in the corner of our pantry has been great. It’s also been pretty easy to transport – we took it to my parents’ place for a weekend, and while it’s not exactly lightweight, I could manage it myself. The wheels are a nice touch too – they lock properly when you need them to, but make it easy to scoot the chair around when needed.
As for the safety features, the 5-point harness gives me peace of mind, especially since Ellie’s going through this wriggly phase where she thinks she’s a tiny escape artist. The straps are softer than they look, which is good because she has pretty sensitive skin.
The Birchbark color is actually prettier in person than in the pictures – it’s this subtle woodgrain pattern with soft gray that goes with pretty much everything in our kitchen. Kind of neutral but not boring, if that makes sense. And setting it up was surprisingly easy – no tools needed, which was a huge plus since I’m not exactly handy.
For what it’s worth, this high chair has been way more practical than my sister’s fancy $300 one. Sure, it doesn’t have that Instagram-worthy aesthetic, but the functionality is actually better for day-to-day use. If you’re looking for something that’ll last from those first messy purees all the way to when they can sit at the table with you (up to 60 pounds!), this is definitely worth checking out.
