I finally took the plunge and upgraded my home office chair and honestly, I couldn’t be happier with this Staples Lockland Big & Tall chair! After suffering through countless Zoom calls on my old chair (my back was practically screaming at me), I knew I needed something better.
First off, this thing is seriously comfortable. The bonded leather feels pretty nice—not quite as luxurious as those $1000+ chairs, but definitely a huge step up from my previous one. The cushioning hits that sweet spot where it’s soft enough to be comfy but firm enough that I’m not sinking in like quicksand. I’ve been working from home for about 8-9 hours daily, and to be fair, I’m not ending my day with the usual back pain anymore.
What really sold me was all the adjustment options. You can tweak pretty much everything—the height goes from like 19.8″ to 23.7″ (perfect for my somewhat awkward desk setup), and the tilt tension control is kind of amazing when you want to lean back during those long conference calls. There’s this tilt lock feature too, which is way more useful than I expected! I didn’t think I’d care about locking the chair at different angles, but it’s actually super handy.
This chair is built for bigger folks (supports up to 400 lbs) which makes it feel really sturdy and well-made. It’s pretty large though—the dimensions are 45.7″ to 49.6″ H x 29.3″ W x 31.2″ D with a seat measuring 21.26″ W x 18.74″ D. The space between armrests is 22.0″ which gives me plenty of room to shift around. Not gonna lie, this thing is heavy at 52.5 lbs, but that metal frame means it’s not going to fall apart like my last chair did (RIP).
The wheels roll smoothly across my office carpet—much better than my old chair that would get stuck all the time and make that annoying scraping sound. And it’s weird how much of a difference nice casters make!
Putting it together wasn’t too bad. Took me maybe 25 minutes? The instructions were actually readable (miracle!), and I didn’t end up with any mysterious extra screws, which I’m counting as a win.
Oh, and it comes with a 5-year warranty, which is pretty reassuring. It meets some ANSI/BIFMA standards too, which I had to Google, but basically means it’s safe and durable.
Honestly, if you’re spending all day sitting (like most of us these days), investing in a decent chair is totally worth it. This one’s not the cheapest option out there, but my productivity has definitely gone up since I’m not constantly shifting around trying to get comfortable. Plus, it looks pretty professional during video calls—a step up from the gaming chair my neighbor has!
