So I finally upgraded my dining area with this DELAVIN 7-piece set, and honestly, I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner! The solid oak is no joke – it’s definitely the real deal, not like those flimsy particle board tables I’ve had in the past. The cherry finish has this gorgeous grain pattern that kind of reminds me of my grandparents’ old furniture, but with a modern twist, you know?
Setting it up wasn’t bad at all. My boyfriend and I knocked it out in about an hour while watching Netflix. All the parts were there, and they even included the tools, which was pretty nice since I’m always losing my Allen wrenches.
The table is a really good size – we had my parents and sister over for dinner last weekend, and there was plenty of room for all the dishes without feeling cramped. It’s about 63 inches long, which is perfect for my apartment’s dining area. Not too massive, but big enough to actually fit everyone comfortably. The weight limit is supposedly 300 pounds for the table, which seems right – it feels really sturdy when you lean on it.
I’ve gotta say, the chairs are way more comfortable than they look! They have this ergonomic curve that supports your back really well. I work from home sometimes, and I’ve been using one of these chairs instead of my office chair because it’s actually better for my posture. They’re about 17.7 inches high, which is just right for me (I’m 5’6″).
The whole mid-century modern vibe works perfectly with my existing decor. I was torn between this cherry finish and the walnut, but I’m super happy with my choice. It’s warm without being too reddish, if that makes sense? It kind of ties together my living room and kitchen space.
Fair warning – it’s definitely a two-person job to assemble. I tried starting alone and quickly realized I needed help holding pieces while screwing things together. The triangular leg design is really cool looking but a bit tricky to align at first.
I’ve had it for about a month now, and it’s holding up great with daily use. I’m actually using it right now as I type this – it’s become my WFH desk during the day and dining table at night. Pretty versatile!
For anyone with small kids, the rounded edges are a nice touch. My nephew came over and I didn’t have to worry about him bumping his head on sharp corners.
