I finally got around to replacing that ancient metal bench on my patio, and let me tell you, this 1.2m Wood Plastic Composite Park Bench has been such a good find! It’s perfectly sized for our small outdoor space at 120cm long, and it comfortably fits 2 adults – though we’ve squeezed in 3 when friends come over (a bit tight but doable).
The wood-plastic material honestly looks way better than I expected. It’s got this natural wood appearance but without all the maintenance headaches of my old wooden furniture that practically disintegrated after two rainy seasons. We’ve had some pretty heavy downpours lately, and this thing hasn’t budged or shown any signs of warping. I kind of love that I don’t have to worry about staining or painting it every year – just a quick wipe down with soapy water and it looks good as new.
The aluminum frame is pretty sturdy but still light enough that I could move it around by myself when I was trying to find the perfect spot. We eventually settled on placing it under our apple tree, and I used those expansion screws that came with it to secure it to our concrete pad. No more wobbling or tipping like our last bench!
I’m really picky about comfort (my back isn’t what it used to be), and this bench is actually not bad at all. The backrest has this slight curve that supports your spine, which makes a huge difference when I’m sitting out there with my morning coffee. The armrests are smooth and at a good height – about 60cm up from the ground. My nephew visited last weekend and didn’t bang his head on them like he always did with our old bench, so that’s definitely a plus.
The whole thing has this modern look that works surprisingly well with our more traditional garden setup. It holds up to 400kg according to the specs, which seems kind of excessive, but it’s nice to know it’s built to last. Assembly wasn’t terrible – took me maybe 45 minutes with a cup of tea break in the middle. The instructions were fairly clear, which is refreshing compared to some of the furniture I’ve put together.
For the technical stuff, it’s about 72cm tall with a seat height of roughly 45cm (perfect for my short legs), 50cm wide including the backrest, and weighs around 15kg. We’ve had it through a full season now – including some really hot days – and the color hasn’t faded at all.
