Okay, so I finally broke down and bought this orange swing chair for my backyard, and honestly? It might be the best impulse purchase I’ve made in ages. I’ve been eyeing these hanging loungers for a while but was kind of worried about quality since they’re not exactly cheap.
First impression when it arrived – this thing is pretty substantial! It weighs about 70 pounds, which actually reassured me that it wasn’t some flimsy piece that would collapse the first time I flopped onto it. The orange color is way brighter in person than in the photos, which I’m actually really into. Makes a statement in my otherwise boring patio setup.
Setting it up wasn’t too bad. Took me maybe 45 minutes, and I’m definitely not what you’d call handy. The instructions were clear enough, and all the hardware was there, which feels like a minor miracle these days. The frame feels super solid once assembled – it’s made from powder-coated steel that’s supposed to resist weather and corrosion. So far, so good, though I’ve only had it about a month.

The comfort level is honestly better than I expected. The cushion is thick enough that you don’t feel the frame underneath, and the pillow is a nice touch for neck support. I’ve accidentally fallen asleep on this thing twice now while reading – not mad about it. The curved design really does make a difference compared to my old patio furniture. It kind of cradles your body, if that makes sense? And the padded armrests are clutch for longer lounging sessions.
It’s about 6.5 feet long and maybe 2.5 feet wide, so plenty of room to stretch out. I’m 5’10” and fit on it with room to spare. The cushion covers come off for washing, which I haven’t needed to do yet, but it’s good to know since birds exist and have no respect for my nice things.
I’ve been using it mostly for morning coffee and weekend reading, but it’s also become my go-to spot for evening phone calls. Something about gently swinging while catching up with friends just hits different. It’s definitely more comfortable than my actual couch, which is kind of embarrassing for my indoor furniture game.
Not sure how it’ll hold up long-term, but for now, I’m pretty satisfied with my purchase. If you’ve got the space and don’t mind spending a bit more for something that doesn’t feel like it’ll fall apart after one season, this orange beauty might be worth considering.
