So I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my gaming setup with this Fantasylab chair, and honestly? I kinda wish I’d done it sooner. After my old chair started killing my back during those weekend Elden Ring marathons, I knew I needed something better.
This thing is pretty massive – I mean, they’re not kidding with the “Big & Tall” label. The memory foam padding is actually way more comfortable than I expected. It’s got this nice balance where it’s supportive but still feels plush enough that I don’t mind sitting for a few hours. The lumbar support is honestly a game-changer for me. I used to get that weird “computer hunch” thing where my lower back would just ache, but that’s basically gone now.
The massage feature seemed gimmicky at first, but not gonna lie, it’s pretty sweet after a long day. It’s just a basic vibration thing – nothing fancy like those $5000 massage chairs at the mall – but it does the job when my back’s feeling tight.
I’m really digging all the adjustments you can make with this chair. The height adjustment is solid – goes from about 18.5″ to 21.5″ which is perfect for my desk. The reclining feature goes way back (like 165° back!), which is actually great for when I’m taking a break or watching something on my second monitor. The armrests adjust pretty much every way possible, which is nice because I always found static armrests kind of annoying.
The footrest is a nice touch, though to be fair, I don’t use it as much as I thought I would. It’s there when I want to really lounge back though.
Size-wise, this chair is definitely roomier than my old one. I’m a bigger guy (around 230lbs), and I’ve got plenty of space. The seat is about 21″ wide and the backrest is pretty tall. It feels way more substantial than those flimsy office chairs from Staples I used to buy every couple years.
Build quality seems pretty solid so far. The whole thing weighs like 56 pounds, which makes it a pain to move around, but at least it feels sturdy. The wheels roll smoothly on my hardwood floor, and it doesn’t make those weird creaking noises my last chair did.
The faux leather looks better than I expected – has that gaming chair aesthetic but isn’t so over-the-top that it looks ridiculous. It’s also been pretty easy to wipe clean when I inevitably spill something.
I was a bit worried about assembly, but it wasn’t too bad – took me maybe 45 minutes with a beer break in the middle. All the parts seemed well-made, and everything lined up correctly, which hasn’t always been my experience with furniture.
The price tag definitely made me hesitate, but considering I spend like 8+ hours a day in this thing between work and gaming, it seems worth it. Plus it supports up to 400 pounds, so I’m not worried about it breaking down anytime soon.
If you’re on the fence, I’d say go for it. My back feels better, my gaming sessions are more comfortable, and that little massage feature is surprisingly nice after a long day. Just make sure you’ve got the space for it – this isn’t exactly a compact chair!
