So, I finally found a solution to my mealtime struggles with my little one! I’ve been using this Toogel portable high chair for about a month now, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer for our family dinners.
Setting it up is pretty much a no-brainer. It literally takes like 30 seconds to attach to our dining table – which is a huge relief when you’ve got a hungry baby screaming their head off! It works with our kitchen table that’s about 3 inches thick, but it can handle tables up to 4.72 inches, so that’s pretty flexible. My son is 14 months old now, and he seems really comfortable in it. The package says it’s good for babies from 6-36 months (up to 36 pounds), which means we’ll get plenty of use out of it.
The whole portability thing is what sold me in the first place. We visit my parents nearly every weekend, and I was getting tired of lugging around that massive traditional high chair we had. This thing folds down to about 14″ x 12″ x 4″ – way smaller than I expected! It fits perfectly in the trunk with all our other baby stuff. The carry bag is actually decent quality too, not that flimsy material you often get with baby products. There’s even a little pocket on the back where I stuff a couple of bibs and some wipes.
As far as safety goes, I’m kind of a paranoid mom, so that was my biggest concern. The 3-point harness keeps my wiggle monster secure, and the quick-release buckle makes it easy to get him out when he’s done. The frame feels really sturdy – it’s aluminum, which makes it lightweight (only 4.5 pounds!) but still super solid. I was pretty relieved to see it’s BPA-free and doesn’t have all those nasty chemicals. You know how babies put EVERYTHING in their mouths.
The best part? It’s so easy to clean! If you’ve ever had to dig crushed Cheerios out of the crevices of a traditional high chair, you’ll appreciate this. The fabric seat cover comes off and goes right in the washing machine. For everyday messes, I just wipe it down with a damp cloth since the material is water-resistant. Beats scrubbing dried spaghetti sauce off plastic any day!
To be fair, it’s not quite as comfy as our padded Graco at home, but my son doesn’t seem to mind at all. He actually sits up straighter in this one, which seems better for his posture anyway. The grey color goes with pretty much everything, which is nice because our kitchen has kind of a modern vibe.
I was a little worried about customer service since I hadn’t heard of Toogel before, but I had a small issue with one of the clamps not tightening properly, and they sent me a replacement part within a week. Not bad at all!
If you’re looking for something portable that doesn’t take up half your dining room, this chair is pretty much perfect. It’s been a lifesaver at restaurants too – those nasty public high chairs kind of gross me out anyway!
