I finally found the perfect solution for my sister’s Cinco de Mayo party last month! These purple Mexican fiesta chair covers and sashes were honestly such a lifesaver. So, the package came with 20 chair covers and 20 Mexican-style sashes, which was plenty for our setup, and we even had a few extras just in case someone spilled salsa on them (which, spoiler alert, totally happened).
The thing I love most about these is that they’re super easy to clean. After the party, I just tossed them in the washing machine with some mild detergent and they came out looking pretty good! Just had to avoid using any bleach and dried them on low heat – not a big deal at all.
The chair covers themselves are made of this stretchy spandex material that’s actually way more durable than I expected. My old chair covers from my cousin’s wedding last year ripped after like one use, but these held up really well. They have these four elastic pockets at the bottom that grip onto the chair legs, which meant that even when my nephew was fidgeting like crazy, the covers stayed put. To be fair, you should check your chair sizes – these fit chairs about 17-24 inches high and 14-20 inches wide, which worked perfectly for our rental chairs.
The Mexican-themed sashes are kind of the star of the show though. They’re this gorgeous purple color with those traditional Mexican stripes and patterns. What I didn’t expect was how easy they’d be to put on! They’re about 14 x 6 inches and have this little buckle thing, so you don’t have to be some kind of origami expert to make them look good – definitely a plus for someone like me who can barely tie a decent bow!
It’s honestly a pretty smart combination – the white covers protect the chairs (our rental company was super strict about returns), while the colorful sashes added that festive Mexican vibe we wanted. Our party looked way more put-together than I thought it would. My mom even asked if I hired a decorator, which made me feel pretty accomplished!
These would work great for basically any Mexican-themed event, but I’m also thinking about using them for my friend’s birthday next month – they’re that versatile. They definitely transformed those boring banquet chairs into something that actually looked nice in photos.

The best part? They’re ridiculously easy to use. I’m not particularly crafty, but even I could stretch the cover over each chair in like 10 seconds, and then just snap the sash on with the buckle. No complicated tying or anything. My husband actually helped set up (shocking, I know) and didn’t complain once about it being difficult.
These fit our chairs perfectly, but they’re pretty stretchy so I’m guessing they’d work on most standard banquet-style chairs. The spandex really hugs the chair without looking saggy or wrinkled. And they’ve held up after washing them too – the elasticity is still there, which is impressive considering how affordable they were.
Just a heads-up – the measurements might be a tiny bit off from what’s listed, but nothing major. And the purple color looked a bit different in person than on my screen, but honestly, I liked the real color better anyway! It was more vibrant and matched our other decorations perfectly.
